An early transitional kneeboard, this board was also actually marketed as a "Knee Machine," and in the case of Frank Cavins board, for lighter kneeboarding bodies. But this board is clearly more effective for prone riders than kneelos. Within a couple of years the El Paipo Knee Machines had increased in length and size, e.g., 48 and 54 inches long. The board in the figure was also marketed as the "Planing Machine" and suitable for prone and knee riding (Surfer Magazine, 1968-Aug/Sep, v09n04, p008).
