Here is on one the clips from my trip to Peru. I'll post the other good shots, when I get the patience to figure out how to edit them.

Really long! How cold was the water?

Cool footage.
You have exactly the same red rail as my board i;m selling in the classifieds, I thought it was one of my vids for a second.
Its strange how the gopro effect is to make the wave looks so flat, i;m finding it very hard to get the right angle to show the wave face well. is the board mount?

The water was about 65-7 degrees F or so. I used a 3/2 wetsuit. I think it is about as warm San Diego. I was perfectly comfortable. I used a head strap mount, which was OK. But it came off after many waves ( I had string tied from my wetsuit zipper cord to the camera). I didn't have the cash for a helmut. The Go Pro does really flatten out the wave. Next time I try it, I am going to try the narrow focus with less fps. I hope to get a helmut to film here during the winter. I don't think the head strap would work very in the Norcal winter surf.

Me and my friend are playing about with my gopro and his helmet, W have a side mount for it.
I personally hate wearing anything like a helmet, so have not used it yet (more interested in surfing than filming)
My friend made this little video with it on 1080 (the narrow angle)

I tried a front board mount in cali and found you dont want the cam pointing straight or it just films out into the flats and misses the wave face.
A lot of the bodyboarders are using the chest mounts but putting them on their backs, seems to be similar view to the rear pole mount without the hassle and can be used where you may be getting lefts and rights in the same session.

Hypnotic - without being too specific, was it north or south of Chiclayo?
I was in Peru last year.

I was South of Chiclayo. It was a lot more crowded than expected.

JBW,
I surfed a bit north of Chicama. Wasn't crowded but it also wasn't classic (though certainly fun).

I surfed six days at Chicama. It isn't the best place for paipos. But I great rides. I wouldn't want to surf there with a neutral bouancy board. My more floaty board worked great. The place was swarmed with Brazilians. It was more crowded than I expected. Where did you surf?

Starts with P and ends with O - big cement factory nearby.
Why did you think a neutral buoyancy board was not ideal - currents or crowd?

There was a lot of paddling due to the current and the length of the wave. Also with the crowd is was easier to get into the waves earlier the float. I think floaty boards are good for point and reef breaks. I am going start shaping some more boards for beach breaks soon.

The paddle would be a killer. Though one wave could make a surf. Currents and low volume boards don't go together, the superfit probably disagree.

I feel the opposite of floaty boards...I get into waves easier on the wood paipos...point break or not. I did a side by side on a chest to head high day for about 5 hours. I got good rides on both boards but I got more on the wood boards. No harsh current though.

My guess is that in waves typical of many Florida breaks where the waves tend to be slopier and weaker that a floaty board would help catch and stay on more waves. That is my finding and why I keep my wider, thicker foam/glass in FL, not my thinner, narrower board that I use in PR, CR and HI.

Oh you guys in your warm water...

The other reason my floaty board worked well where I was surfing is that it helped me get past sections. The mega platters would have well there to get into the waves really early and make it past more sections. Someday I'll experiment more with thin wood boards. Right I am having a blast with my float and fins.
