My friend Jem howe of http://www.jemski.co.uk/boards.html

Jem is a great board builder and does many wave ski's, hence the jemski (and i think is current European champion)

Had asked for my input on a board that he had been asked to build, a customer who was older with back problems wanted to stay in the water so he has suggested a prone board, the guy is about 6'5" and 225 so I had help out with influences from jeff chamberlins L41 and other boards on here with some of my own board throw in.

Its an EPS stringerless blank.

Jem says " Went for 4'6" by 24" with a nod to the spoon with some concave in deck Tucked/ down rails and rolled nose as you suggested - flat mid section and concave starting in last 40% of board. "

I also asked about EPS glassing, He replied "lots of guys use ' spackle' which is basically polyfiller, bad a idea. I use epoxy and glass bubbles, reduces 'seep' into blank. weight and better flat finish."

Its not glassed yet though, but here are pics.

That shape is becoming pretty mainstream, with volume modulated to meet rider requirements by variations in thickness, width and length. Good stuff. What has he decided to do about fins? He's right on the money about using epoxy resin and micro-balloons to seal the blank instead of Spackle. I seal all my eps foam core boards this way. Helps to fill-in the the little pock marks and ensures a good bond with the lamination. Doesn't add a lot of weight and doesn't cost a lot of money.

Yeah its makes sense its just a simmons planing hull. He had its all worked out in the 50's

Jem has already got excited about the guys board and shaped himself a 4'2" out of a small offcut he had.

Look to try these out as fins, but with a standard fcs fin box anything could be tried.

Out in the boondocks right now with a super slow spotty Internet connection... could not readily find any info on the fins -- how tall are there and how long is the base? They appear to be fiberglass. They also appear to be slightly canted. Any info?

I don't know anything about them myself, jem just sent me a pic saying he was going to try them, seeing there a FCS 2 tab, that'd going to roughly make them 4/5" long and 2/3" tall.

I willtry to get more info for you. :?

Most of the major fin makers have a "Nubster" fin of some kind in their inventory. True Ames, Futures, Rainbow and Shaper's Fins (Australia) to name a few.
