Article Series: Fin Week on Surfline

Surfline is running a good series of articles on fins (skegs) this week. Well worth the read.

When talking about fin placement for quads or 5-fin boards it was suggested that the rear sidebites (runners) maybe should be vertical in complementing the forward pair being canted. At the conclusion of the article they said all the rules change for Bonzers. Sort of.
It struck me funny because my current working version for my Bonzer paipo has short base vertical fins forward (~5 percent fin box cant) and full Bonzer canted fins setup as the rear runners (the small pair from a standard True Ames Bonzer Quad Set of runners). Maybe I will try reversing those in late-October/early-November.
The key watchword in the article is to use the guidelines in the articles but to experiment to see what works for your board, your style and your waves.
