Great guy. A real treasure.

Paipo surfer in repose,
Nose on the nose,
No grunting he-man pose.
See how fast he goes!
What is it he knows?

"Buy a 1/8'' plywood door skin, shape it and contact cement it to the bottom. Then, varnish the wood. You'll have a really fast bodyboard. If you want something to surf, then figure out how to make it yourself. That's the real kick, riding what you created...I am a surfer! Short, long, medium or body, I ride the wave to have fun for myself, not the board to show off. I already have a girlfriend, and I've been married to her for 45 years."

Sounds like what AtlantaSurfer has been doing with his FrankenBoogie, the ply+polyethylene foam. After two weeks of sea trials with his 5 ft ply+2 inch foam top, he is moving to a 6-inch shorter version using 1 inch of foam. Both have fins.soulglider wrote:"Buy a 1/8'' plywood door skin, shape it and contact cement it to the bottom. Then, varnish the wood. Re: Tom Morey Interview in SurferToday.com
The Frankenboogie V.2 is not exactly what Morey had in mind, but we are in sort of the same ballpark. I'll post more when the build progresses, but so far I have a 3/8 plywood bottom 56 x 22". In a few weeks i'm gonna have a pro put the FCS boxes in. The plan is to cover it with 1" Minicell (EVA) foam.
The original FB is a good vehicle (for me at least) in small waves. But it just doesn't duck dive too well.
