Here are some photos of my latest board - I'll check dimensions but it is around 53" x 21"

There are two more photos I'll post. A mate reckoned it looked like a combination of one of Larry Goddard's boards and John Galera's NoFin. There is an element of truth in this. I've only ridden it once in weak waves but there were glimpses of what is possible, and it can hold an edge. One thing I found is that I had to move around a bit more than on a finned board.

I wish we could get all these very different board types together one day , and have a alternate surf riding conference ?

Chris,

I did come across another SA guy who rides paipo - Shaun Rosen from near JB. Do you know him? Also, there is some historical articles from SA that Rod came across. Two 60s mags. California & Hawaii have the highest concentration that I know of, with the California gathering being the only formal get togethers (unless you count the UK bellyboarders). There may well be something else going on I don't know of.

Krusher - rails, here they are

Is that a lower chine in the back end of the rail with a round over into the bottom of the board?

I'm finding my full surfboard rail on my latest board very "different" so far. :?

Keith,

There is an edge at the last 6" that is tucked slightly under. Red isn't easy to photograph on a board. It wasn't my choice - the shaper reckoned less people on red boards get attacked by sharks (but less people have red boards anyway).

Interesting to see how your latest board goes compared to the others.

Aren't sharks color blind?

Geoffrey,

What the article didn't say was which 17 species were tested of 400. I heard surfers at Lennox Head are putting black stripes on their boards. Not sure what science is behind that theory.

Brett,

Huie is indeed. While the board looked a bit different for him, it was more what I was looking for than the previous board.
