47" Malama Kai test ride video

I finally got the Malama Kai out in some decent surf. The board duck dives almost as well as the HPD and rides like the Austin 50".

Watch out for those sharky's... Paul Martin just told me about the arm attack on one of the NW beaches on the Big Island.

Sure looks like a nice slab in the video :)

Was a fifteen foot Tiger Shark at Kiholo Bay - not too far from the video site. The surfer was paddling in at dusk when the shark grabbed his forearm. After a couple hammer blows from the free arm, the shark let go and had a nibble at a knee. The guy continued paddling in to his buddies on the beach.

Ted,

Looks like a wave well suited to a paipo and a lot of fun. It also reminds me that certain types of boards will be more suited to this style of wave which is intense but relatively short.

Bob,

That wave varies quite a bit as a function of tide, swell size and direction. The ride is never long, as rocks loom inside. Tomorrow promises bigger swell and lower morning tide that will make a more challenging ride.
