More paipos being built

#1

Unread post by jbw4600 »

I had an interesting day yesterday. I went surfing at Ocean beach in San Francisco (terrible surf). Afterwards I stopped by Sunset Shapers (a place where you can rent shaping bays etc.and buy boards) and sitting there was a paipo board ready to be glassed. It was like one of those old teardrop shaped boards. Then I went to Wise surfboards to buy fin socks and started to talk the one to owners about paipos. And he show pictures of two paipos he had recently built for someone.

So paipos are starting to be built. I still have yet see a foam or wood paipo out anywhere. I have been told that there is guy riding one at break nearby. But I have never seen him

I only saw some photos on his phone that he had taken. He said that one was 5'2" and the other was 5'. They were for guy that is 6'4". They are both twin fins. He said one had a single concave like my board and the other had a double concave.

interesting stuff.

I have to say I kinda like being the only one in the water on a paipo, just feels like you have your own "thing" but its great to meet a like minded person from time to time. :D

I surfed ocean beach last winter on my cali trip, where were you!!! ;)
